Janet Casson, who recently joined Bright Future Foundation’s team, has always been a teacher. Throughout her career, Janet has explored many subjects in a variety of settings. She has used her skills as an educator to teach drama, music, and yoga to students of all ages.
Janet will use her teaching experience in her new role with fellow youth violence prevention specialist, Mike Santambrogio, to implement BFF’s prevention programs, EmpowerMENt and EmpowHERment, within Eagle County schools. Her main role is to manage the Buddy Mentors Program by matching Junior and Senior Buddy pairs, recruiting, training, and planning buddy events.
Janet believes that working with youth is a privilege.
“Connection to community, empathy for all, and cultivating curiosity are my main goals in my professional and personal life,” said Janet. “Working with youth is one of the most poignant ways to implement and nurture these skills.”
Janet earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa in Communication and Theatre Education and completed a graduate certification in Drama and Theatre for Youth through the City University of New York in Manhattan.
